The Leadership Question
The 2016 United States Presidential election is just days away. There is a great deal at stake, many opinions have been expressed and multiple scenarios have been brought forth.
As Canadians, many believe the current US Presidential status quo would serve us better, overall. This would not be the case when either of the leading candidates wins. We find ourselves uneasy with what could be.
We have no direct influence over the election outcome and their political system works quite differently than ours. We recognize that the US President carries considerable power over world affairs and influence over the Canadian economy.
Other countries around the world are also watching and are concerned; however, they do not share an 8,891 kilometre (5,525 mi) long border with them, nor are they their most important trade partner. We all have a vested interest in the November 8th outcome.
As Christians, we are also citizens of God’s Kingdom. Among other things, our God is omniscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful), and omnipresent (present everywhere). He knows what is going on and He has put in motion His plan.
We, God’s children, are a part of His plan and we have a role to play in it. We who have received Jesus Christ as our Savior must remember to trust God and His plan.
Prayer has always been a part of God’s plan and will continue to be a part of His plan. We can all use prayer. Our fellow Christians in the US need our prayers.
