My kids are going to be famous.
I am doing my best to make them that way!
The way I see it, famous people get a lot of attention from somebody (media, papparazi, etc.) and then that attention is relayed on to me through news reports, social media, radio and the like.
For example, there are over 25,000 people who attend a hockey game in Edmonton. When i watch the highlights of the game later on in the evening they report the goals, the final score and include a shot of whoever famous person also attended the game, as a spectator. What about the other 24,999 spectators? Why not put their face on the screen for 7 seconds and report, “Look who else took in the game tonight. It’s Frank Smith, the handyman.”
People become famous by the attention they receive.
You disagree? Perhaps you think it is due to some remarkable feat they accomplished, or their voice, or skill at something. Yes, but there are many people who have accomplished great things, have amazing singing or acting talents, made world altering discoveries. People live remarkable lives every day. They qualify for fame but they are not famous. Becoming famous is about the attention given rather than the action taken.
So, back to the point. I am going to make my children famous – but famous in a place that really matters. If fame is simply assigning attention to someone I want my children to be famous in the throne room of heaven. I am going to draw attention to my children in that place.
There may be 400 other children at my kid’s school today but i can make sure that Jesus knows my child is there too. If Justin Bieber were to go shopping in West Edmonton Mall we would hear about it, because someone decides it should come to our attention. Why can’t i do the same thing in heavenly places when my daughter visits the mall?
Ok, so you are thinking, Justin B is famous because of his singing that is what made him famous. I disagree. Lot’s of boys sing, and sing as well or better than he. Attention breeds more attention. Fame breeds fame.
How did Job become famous? God gave him attention and then shared that attention with those that were visiting the throne room that day.
Will you make your child famous in the presence of God today? Just bring God’s attention to him, to her. “Jesus, have you considered my daughter today, she is in _____________?”
“Jesus, there are thousands of children out and about today, my son is at ___________.”
You can make your child famous too. It’s really quite simple, just bring them into the attention of your Father in heaven. It’s the most important place to be famous. Your prayers will make them famous!
